Product Overview

Quartz reflex gauge glass is a fused-silica sight glass used for reflex-style liquid-level reading in industrial level gauge assemblies. It is selected where clear visibility and very high thermal-shock resistance are required in extreme-temperature service.

This product is commonly searched as quartz sight glass, fused silica sight glass, quartz level gauge glass, quartz gauge glass window, and high-temperature sight glass for level indication. Quartz sight glasses are used for optical observation of fluid level, flow line, and process conditions in tanks and similar equipment.

Working Principle

Reflex-style level indication uses optical contrast between the liquid and vapor zones, with the liquid region appearing darker and the vapor region appearing brighter. That contrast comes from grooves or prism geometry on the media side of the glass; in quartz-based assemblies, the same viewing principle is applied when the gauge is engineered for reflex-type service.

Typical Applications

Quartz reflex gauge glass is suitable for high-temperature process viewing, boiler and furnace observation points, reactors, and other installations where a clear visual window must survive heat and thermal shock. Published quartz sight-glass material information states use above 1000°F and thermal shock greater than 280°F, and quartz sight glasses are described for furnaces, boilers, and reactors.

Material and Fabrication Range

Quartz sight-glass data identifies the material as fused silica, minimum 95%, with special dimensions available on request.
