Key Features / Highlights

  • Low friction & non-stick surface — reduces galling and eases flange cleanup.

  • Exceptional chemical resistance — resists acids, alkalis and solvents.

  • High conformability — fills flange imperfections for robust sealing at low bolt loads.

  • Wide temperature range — serviceable from approx. -200°C to +260°C (material dependent).

  • Optional certifications — available in FDA-compliant, RoHS and industry-specific grades.

  • Custom services — die-cutting, bonded washers, adhesive backing, CNC profiles.

Product Overview

Expanded PTFE gaskets (also called ePTFE gaskets, expanded teflon gaskets, or PTFE sponge gaskets) are manufactured from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene. Unlike solid PTFE sheets, expanded PTFE has a porous, fibrous structure that provides superior compressibility and recovery — making it ideal where flange faces are uneven or where low stress sealing is required.

Technical Specifications

Material & Grades

  • Base material: Expanded PTFE (ePTFE)

  • Common grades: Standard ePTFE; FDA-grade ePTFE; high-purity ePTFE; conductive ePTFE (optional)

  • Typical certifications available: FDA food-contact formulation (on request), RoHS-compliant components, material test reports (COA).

Typical Physical Properties

Typical Applications & Industries

  • Chemical processing & petrochemical seals (acid/solvent lines)

  • Food & beverage processing (use FDA grade)

  • Pharmaceutical manufacturing (sterile lines, validated materials)

  • Heat exchangers, valves, pumps, flanged equipment

  • Vacuum systems, cryogenic seals (use appropriate grade)

Advantages

Why choose Expanded PTFE Gaskets?

  1. Chemical inertness — compatible with most aggressive media.

  2. Low torque seal — achieves tight seal at lower bolt loads.

  3. Excellent cold/heat performance — suitable across wide temperature ranges.

  4. Clean & non-contaminating — ideal for hygiene-critical industries (food, pharma).

  5. Long service life — resisting aging and creep better than many elastomers.

  6. Customisable — cut-to-size, bonded, with adhesives or metal core for high-pressure service.

Comparison — Expanded PTFE vs Other Gasket Materials

Contamination risk (cleanliness) Low Low Higher (particles) Medium
Typical use cases Food/pharma/chemicals Lab parts, seals High temp, steam Water, oils, general sealing

Customization Services

  • Die-cut and CNC-cut shapes to customer drawings (DXF / PDF / CAD).

  • Bonded metal core or PTFE-filled core for higher-pressure service.

  • Adhesive/peel backing for easier installation.

  • Custom thickness, colorants, conductive fillers (for anti-static) — available on request.

Installation & Maintenance

  • Ensure flange faces are clean and free of burrs.

  • Use correct bolt tightening sequence and recommended torque (reference flange standard).

  • Replacement interval guidance: inspect during scheduled maintenance; ePTFE typically shows minimal creep but verify in situ.

FAQ

Q1: What is the MOQ?
A: Typical MOQ for stock sizes is 30–100 pcs. For custom die-cut parts MOQ is usually 200 pcs per SKU. (Modify to your actual policy.)

Q2: What is the lead time for standard and custom orders?
A: Stock items: 1–3 business days. Custom die-cut: 7–21 days depending on order size and tooling.

Q3: Can you provide FDA-compliant material for food/pharma?
A: Yes — FDA-grade ePTFE formulations are available on request. We provide material certificates and test reports as required.

Q4: How are products shipped internationally?
A: We ship via express couriers (DHL/UPS), air freight and sea freight. Incoterms (EXW/FOB/CIF) selectable; export documents (COA, packing list) provided.

Q5: Do you offer custom sizes and drawings?
A: Yes — we accept DXF/CAD/PDF drawings for die-cutting. Tooling fees may apply for special dies; many common sizes are free to cut.

Q6: Do you provide samples?
A: Sample policy: [state your policy — e.g., free sample for qualified buyers; buyer pays freight]. Lead time for samples: 1–5 days.
