Engineered for low-friction, long-life sealing in aggressive chemical environments. Our white PTFE packing with aramid corner reinforcements delivers excellent chemical resistance of PTFE with improved extrusion and wear resistance from aramid corner fibers — reducing shaft wear and maintenance downtime.

White PTFE Packing with Aramid Corners is a composite shaft/pump packing combining pure PTFE’s chemical resistance and low friction with aramid-reinforced corner strands for improved mechanical strength and extrusion resistance. Engineered for pumps, valves and rotating shafts in chemical, pharmaceutical and OEM equipment, these packs are offered in standard coils, cut lengths and custom assemblies with optional FDA-grade materials.

Why Choose White PTFE Packing with Aramid Corners?

Key selling points

  • Low friction & energy efficient — PTFE matrix provides minimal friction against shafts and stems, improving pump efficiency and reducing heat.

  • Superior chemical resistance — PTFE resists nearly all acids, alkalis and solvents (pH 0–14), suitable for corrosive media.

  • Improved extrusion resistance — aramid corner reinforcement resists extrusion under high pressure and in narrow gland clearances.

  • Long service life & low shaft wear — engineered braid reduces re-packing frequency and lowers maintenance cost.

  • Wide temperature range — suitable for cryogenic to high-temperature applications (see specs).

  • Customizable for OEM & after-market — samples, custom cross-sections and bulk coil lengths available.

Product Description & Construction

Construction: 4-strand braided PTFE yarn body with aramid corner reinforcements (visible as slightly off-white/cream corner strands). Typical finish is bright white PTFE with aramid corners to the braiding intersections for improved mechanical support.

Material details:

  • Body: 100% virgin PTFE yarn (pure PTFE)

  • Reinforcement: Aramid (Kevlar®-type) corner yarns

  • Appearance: White PTFE braid with subtle aramid corner highlights

  • Typical braid: square braided / box-braid for uniform compression and low leakage

Common trade names / aliases:
PTFE aramid packing, PTFE braided packing with aramid corners, white PTFE gland packing, PTFE packing with Kevlar corners, low-friction PTFE packing, PTFE aramid seal packing.

White PTFE PackingTypical Physical & Performance Data

  • Temperature range: -200°C to +260°C (continuous service; short peaks up to ~300°C depend on aramid and application)

  • pH compatibility: 0–14 (excellent chemical resistance due to PTFE)

  • Color: white (PTFE) with pale aramid corners

  • Density (approx. PTFE component): ~2.2 g/cm³ (braid density varies)

  • Surface friction: very low (PTFE) — reduces running torque

  • Extrusion resistance: enhanced vs. pure PTFE packing because of aramid corners

  • Typical applications pressure: suitable for low to moderate pressure gland sealings in pumps and valves; for high-pressure applications consult technical team.

(If you require certified mechanical test values — friction coefficient, compressibility, permeability — request the technical datasheet and sample testing.)

Common Applications

  • Centrifugal pumps handling acids, solvents, corrosive liquids (chemical plants)

  • Rotary and sliding valves (isolation & control valves)

  • Agitators and mixers in chemical and pharmaceutical production

  • Marine pumps and desalination equipment

  • Food & beverage and pharmaceutical (when PTFE materials comply with applicable food / pharma standards — request certificates)

  • General industrial machinery requiring low friction + chemical compatibility

Advantages — Why this product outperforms common alternatives

  • Longer service intervals because aramid corners reduce extrusion and packing wear.

  • Lower running torque compared with graphite or metallic-filled packing — saves motor energy.

  • Broad chemical compatibility — PTFE resists most media where synthetic fiber packings would fail.

  • Less shaft scoring than abrasive carbon/graphite packings.

  • Easy to install — conforms in gland for fast seating; available in standard sizes for direct replacement.

Comparison Table: White PTFE with Aramid Corners vs Other Packing Materials

Feature / Material White PTFE + Aramid Corners Pure PTFE Packing Graphite Packing Aramid (Kevlar) Packing
Chemical resistance Excellent Excellent Good (oxidizing limits) Moderate
Temp range -200 → +260 °C -200 → +260 °C -200 → +450 °C (oxidation concern) -70 → +200 °C
Friction coefficient Very low Very low Moderate to low Moderate
Extrusion resistance High (improved) Low High Medium
Shaft wear Minimal Minimal Higher (abrasive) Low–medium
Typical cost Mid-range Mid-range Higher Lower–mid
Best for Chemical pumps/valves needing low friction + extrusion resistance Pure chemical compatibility, low friction High temp, steam High mechanical strength where PTFE is not needed

Installation & Best Practices

  • Clean gland and shaft before installation.

  • For rotating pumps, install 3–4 rings staggered unless the gland design specifies otherwise. Start with a slightly looser initial compression to allow PTFE to conform, then tighten gradually under operating conditions.

  • Avoid over-compression — PTFE seals by conforming, not by excessive compression.

  • For high pressure or narrow clearance, combine with a PTFE-compatible lubricant if recommended by application engineers.

  • Replace when leakage exceeds acceptable rate or when rings become hard/crumbly.

FAQ

Q1: What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
A: Typical MOQ is 10 kilograms. We support sample orders (1–5 kilograms) for qualification.

Q2: What is the lead time?
A: Samples: 3–7 days. Bulk orders: generally 7–15 days depending on size and custom requirements. Expedited production is possible for urgent orders—contact our sales team.

Q3: What shipping terms do you support?
A: FOB, EXW, CIF and DDP available. We ship worldwide by sea, air or express courier. Freight estimates provided on request.

Q4: Do you offer customization / OEM service?
A: Yes — custom cross-sections, private labeling, special coil lengths and packaging can be arranged. Technical drawings and MOQ for custom items will be quoted per project.

Q5: Can you provide certificates and test reports?
A: Yes — material certificates, batch traceability and third-party test reports (tensile/compression/chemical resistance) available upon request. We operate under ISO 9001 quality controls.

Q6: Is this packing suitable for steam service?
A: PTFE has good steam resistance up to its temperature limit; however, application specifics (pressure, gland design, shaft speed) affect performance. For high-pressure steam, we recommend consultation and sample testing.

Q7: How to replace existing packing with this product?
A: Measure gland cross-section and use matching packing cross-section. Install in rings (3–4 rings typical), stagger joints. Refer to our installation guide or request on-site support if needed.

Q8: Any special storage or handling requirements?
A: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong oxidizers. Keep coils in original packaging until use.

Q9: Are food/pharma-grade versions available?
A: PTFE material can meet various regulatory requirements depending on resin grade. If you need FDA/food-contact or pharma compliance, request specifications and available certificates.
