Product Overview

Aluminosilicate transparent gauge glass is used for direct visual liquid-level observation in transparent level gauges and sight glass assemblies. It is designed for high-temperature, high-pressure service where the medium’s color and behavior must remain visible.

This long-form transparent gauge glass is used in level gauge systems, transparent sight glass indicators, and process equipment that require clear observation through the glass. Transparent gauges are typically selected when the actual liquid color must be recognized, when the vessel is illuminated, or when liquid-liquid interface viewing is required.

Applications

Use this transparent sight glass for process vessels, pressure equipment, boiler-related transparent level indication, and other installations that require direct visual monitoring under pressure and thermal load. For steam service above 35 bar and for media with significant glass attack, the glass should be protected on the medium side with a mica shield.

Material Features

Aluminosilicate glass for sight and level gauge service is specified for high temperature and pressure conditions. Maximum pressure of 225 bar, a maximum temperature of 375 °C / 707 °F, thermal shock resistance of ΔT 265 K, surface compressive stress of 100–140 MPa, and a coefficient of expansion of 4.8 × 10^-6 K^-1. Hydrolytic resistance as ISO 719 Class 1, acid resistance as DIN 12116 Class 3, and alkali resistance as ISO 695 Class 3.

Advantages

This product is suited to applications that need a clear viewing window, stable performance at elevated temperature, and a compact flat-glass form factor. Key advantages include high thermal resistance, low thermal expansion, strong surface compressive stress, and stable visibility for transparent liquid-level reading.
