Introduction
Anti-static UHMWPE parts are CNC machined from ESD-grade ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sheet and rod.
They provide permanent static dissipation with surface resistivity between 10⁶ and 10⁹ Ω per IEC 61340-2-3, making them ideal for electronics manufacturing, semiconductor handling, cleanrooms, and explosive atmosphere environments.
Also referred to as ESD UHMWPE parts or anti-static UHMWPE machined components, these parts combine the excellent wear resistance and low friction of UHMWPE with controlled electrostatic discharge protection.
Applications of Anti-Static UHMWPE Parts
Semiconductor wafer handling fixtures and trays – protects sensitive wafers from ESD damage
Electronics assembly jigs and PCB transport rails – prevents static discharge to circuit boards
Cleanroom equipment guides and wear strips – maintains ESD-safe environment
Explosive atmosphere conveyor components (ATEX zones) – reduces risk of static ignition
Powder handling chute liners and hopper inserts – dissipates static in dusty environments
Medical device assembly fixtures and spacers – clean, low-particulate, static-safe

Key Performance Advantages
Permanent ESD Protection
Surface resistivity of 10⁶–10⁹ Ω prevents electrostatic charge accumulation without relying on humidity. The ESD property is volume-distributed and permanent.
Fast Static Dissipation
Static decay time under 2 seconds from 5000 V to 50 V ensures quick discharge, protecting sensitive components in automated lines.
Low Friction & No Stick-Slip
Coefficient of friction 0.12–0.18 against steel. Smooth sliding motion protects sensitive components from mechanical damage.
Excellent Wear Resistance
Abrasion loss ≤90 mm³ (sand-slurry per ASTM G65). Outlasts nylon and acetal in sliding contact by 2–3×, reducing replacement frequency.
Moisture Insensitive
Water absorption <0.01%. Surface resistivity remains stable after 96 hours at 40 °C / 95% RH, suitable for humid or washdown environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between anti-static UHMWPE and standard UHMWPE?
A: Standard UHMWPE is insulative and can accumulate static charge. Anti-static UHMWPE is modified to dissipate static, with surface resistivity between 10⁶ and 10⁹ Ω. The ESD property is permanent and volume-distributed.
Q: Can you machine custom anti-static UHMWPE parts from our drawings?
A: Yes, we offer OEM/ODM machining from customer drawings or 3D files. Standard tolerance is ±0.10 mm, with tighter tolerance to ±0.05 mm available.
Q: Is the ESD property affected by humidity or washing?
A: No. The anti-static property is permanent and does not depend on humidity. Water absorption is <0.01%, so surface resistivity remains stable even after exposure to moisture.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity for custom parts?
A: For custom parts, the MOQ is 50 pcs per size. We also offer sample machining with lead time of 5 working days.
Q: Can you provide test reports for surface resistivity?
A: Yes, third-party test reports for surface resistivity and static decay are available upon request.
