What is Asbestos PTFE Packing?

Asbestos PTFE Packing (also sold as asbestos teflon packing or asbestos packing with PTFE) is a braided gland packing manufactured from high-grade asbestos yarn thoroughly impregnated with PTFE dispersion. It combines asbestos fiber strength and heat resistance with PTFE’s low friction and chemical resistance to deliver a cost-effective sealing solution for pumps, valves, mixers and other rotary/reciprocating equipment in industrial service.

Composition & Manufacturing
Asbestos PTFE packing is produced by braiding high-quality asbestos yarn (typically chrysotile grades) and impregnating each fiber with a PTFE dispersion (sometimes combined with lubricants). The final braid may be finished with additional lubricants or graphite coatings on request. The PTFE impregnation reduces friction and improves chemical resistance while asbestos provides thermal stability and compressibility.
